Many Congratulations

Letter in Herald today September 6, 2012

Many congratulations to the pupils and teaching staff of Worthing High School for their excellent GCSE results.

Please can we remember that these are the same teachers who are so demoralised with the decision of a few governors to apply for academy status for Worthing High, that they came out on strike for a day. Yet, despite this, they have helped their pupils achieve great results.

Perhaps even more could have been achieved if the time, effort and money being put into trying to turn Worthing High into a business, by the head teacher (who doesn't teach), the business manager (who doesn't teach) and the governors (who don't teach), had been put into Worthing High School, as it stands, a local authority maintained school.

Is anyone listening to the teaching staff?

  1. What a very kind, thoughtful and truthful letter! As an ex teacher there(I left because of the appalling management and its bullying) I can vouch that the headteacher didn't teach, or do assemblies or walk around the school corridors during lessons. I'll never forget one day when the headteacher surfaced from her office to quieten a group of noisy girl pupils.
As she returned to her office one pupil piped up "Who's she!". The door was slammed loudly!
