Worthing High School governors have chosen to press ahead with their academy conversion application, despite countless objections from parents, prospective parents and the wider community. As stakeholders we feel frustrated that the school has failed to listen to our concerns and objections. Over the last months, WHAAG has repeatedly written to the Governors and our local MPs, demonstrated, submitted two petitions each with over 500 signatures, gained excellent local media coverage and reached out to the Worthing community. Teachers at the school have also tried and failed to discuss their concerns with the governors. Having no other option, NUT/NASUWT unions have carried out TWO separate days of strike action which we supported.

On 31st August 2012, the Department for Education (DfE) advised that the school should carry out "further consultation" with stakeholders. The governors have apparently ignored this request.
